As part of the new Interprofessional Agreement concluded between employers and trade unions, the possibility of increasing the purchasing power of employees through the introduction of the so-called corona premium was introduced.
The corona premium can be granted from 1 August to 31 December 2021, in the form of consumption vouchers which can be purchased from approved publishers.
The premium can be spent until 31 December 2022.
The maximum value per employee is EUR 500.
For the employee, this is net income.
This premium is 100% deductible for the employer. A special employer contribution of 16.5% is applicable.
The premium can only be granted by companies which achieved ‘good results’ during the Corona crisis. That concept is not defined in the regulations, its interpretation is left to the sectors and companies.
